If you have time before you require an income, any contributions to the PRO-SSQ Guaranteed Income Funds will generate a 5% notional bonus annually, in any year in which you do not make a withdrawal.
For example, if you are 50 when you contribute $100,000 to a portfolio and do not require an income until you turn 65 then the worst case scenario is that you will receive a 5% notional bonus for 15 years. This notional bonus is added to your initial contribution in order to determine your income stream when you want to start making withdrawals. In this case, a 5% bonus per year equals $5,000. $5,000 multiplied by 15 years equals $75,000. Therefore, when you turn 65, the 5% income stream is based on $175,000 as a worst case scenario. This equals an annual income of $8,750.
